August, 2001

It's been too long, I know...my apologies.

First some very good news - Projekt is holding a CD sale, including CDs by Area (and the Arms of Someone New). See http://www.projekt.com/projekt/sale.asp for details.

Other news - work on new Area material slowed to a crawl the past few months for a variety of reasons, but we're back at it. We'll try to post something to the web site here soon!

And we do still hope to have White Canvas New Hope reissued, but as yet there's no release date.

I promise more regular updates...really...

June, 2000

July 11 is the release date for the Arms of Someone New reissues. White Canvas New Hope should follow shortly thereafter.

After a rather long hiatus more work on new Area material will begin again in June. Watch this site for some previews of it.

A handful of cassette copies of the original issue of Fragments of the Morning have been discovered and are available for $9 each. E-mail area@info.comm.uic.edu to order.

Also unearthed - four copies of the vinyl LP version of The Arms of Someone New Promise LP, and one copy of their Every Seventh Wave EP. These are $8 and $5 respectively, e-mail area@info.comm.uic.edu.

February, 2000

And indeed Between Purple & Pink and Fragments of the Morning are available.

Look for reissues from the Arms of Someone New (Susan Sleepwalking with bonus tracks and Love Power & Justice) later in the year.

December, 1999

Projekt is reissuing the Between Purple & Pink and Fragments of the Morning CDs in February 2000.

There is talk of also reissuing White Canvas New Hope along with some bonus tracks, and/or a CD of unreleased material. If you think you'd be interested in either or both, send an e-mail to area@info.comm.uic.edu and let us know.

Happy new year!

March, 1999

Steve Jones will (likely) be performing "I'll Gather Flowers" (from Area's The Perfect Dream album) with Henry Frayne at Henry's show on April 3, 1999 at Gunther Murphy's in Chicago.

The first new Area material in many years will be released on May 4, 1999, on Projekt Records' compilation album Cat Shaped Hole in my Heart. The song, "Too Far Away (Drum 'n' Tabby Mix)" is a remix of a song Area is working on for a new album. A preview is available on this site's "sounds" page.

More news as it develops.
